Over the weekend, I was volunteering in New York City, so I decided to photograph my object around the streets of New York (not that you can really tell). Therefore, I bought a Statue of Liberty figurine at a tourist shop a block down from my hotel and began venturing around the city to take my photos. Getting the object in focus was a big challenge for me, mainly because I was using an unknown camera of lesser quality than what I am used to. Along with this, I was trying to take the photos quickly because I didn’t want to be run over by the endless pedestrian traffic. Using a cheaply made figurine also benefited some problems, and by the end of the day the arm of the Statue of Liberty snapped off! Although the majority of the photos are out of focus, I’m happy with how some of them came out. Taking object photos can either be personal and unique or easily bland and boring. I tried to put my own spin on the traditional object photo.
